Payroll Giovanni was born in Detroit, Michigan, and grew up on the city’s east side. He first started making music as a member of the group Doughboyz Cashout, which he co-founded in 2006. The group gained a following in the Detroit area and released several mixtapes, including “We Run the City” and “Free Roc.”

In 2016, Payroll Giovanni began his solo career with the release of his mixtape “Stack Season.” Since then, he has released several more projects, including “Big Bossin, Vol. 1” and “Big Bossin, Vol. 2,” both of which were collaborations with producer Cardo. Payroll Giovanni’s music is known for its gritty lyrics and storytelling, and he has been praised for his unique flow and delivery.

Payroll Giovanni’s music is a reflection of his life experiences growing up in Detroit. His lyrics often touch on themes of survival, ambition, and loyalty, and he is known for his vivid storytelling ability. He has cited Jay-Z and The Notorious B.I.G. as major influences on his music, and his flow and delivery have been compared to those of fellow Detroit rapper, Eminem.

In 2020, Payroll Giovanni signed to Young Jeezy’s label, CTE World. The signing was seen as a major accomplishment for Payroll Giovanni, who had been working independently up to that point.
