Quavo, Cardi B & Lil Baby all won songwriter of the year.
I wonder what the criteria for that achievement is?

100% useless, meaningless award. The mass majority of music is not considered when weighing this award. Its only ASCAP owned songs.

I like a few songs, but songwriter of the year? lets be honest.. not even remotely close. Rap fans need to expand their horizons when it comes to music in general.

I think LiL baby is great. But this just shows the quality of lyrics are on the decline. He has a few notable verses that are definitely lyrical. But there has to be better writers out there. This is just another label/co-sign attachment for “credible accolades.” When the accolades aren’t even really talked about when it comes to the legacy an artist leaves. It’s about the timeless music itself, not the awards.

ASCAP obviously didn’t listen to The Allegory. When people ask what happened to HipHop, THIS is what happened to it…the wrong things get recognition and the masses blindly follow. No hate to Lil Baby, he did his thing, but I can think of dozens of rappers who deserved that award more.
