It’s been a rough week for Memphis rapper GloRilla, who found herself in the middle of a burglary, a police investigation, and ultimately — an arrest.
According to Forsyth County authorities, GloRilla, born Gloria Hallelujah Woods, was arrested Tuesday and charged with felony possession of marijuana and possession of a Schedule 1 controlled substance. The arrest came just days after her home in Forsyth County, Georgia, roughly 40 miles north of Atlanta, was broken into.
A Home Invasion Gone Wrong
The timeline starts around 1:30 a.m. Saturday, when three suspects entered Woods’ home and began stealing items. Things escalated when someone inside the house opened fire on the intruders. Luckily, no one was injured — but the suspects got away before law enforcement could locate them, even with the help of K-9 and drone units.
GloRilla wasn’t home at the time — she was on stage, doing what she does best: performing for the WNBA All-Star Game in Indianapolis.
The Charges
While investigating the burglary, deputies reportedly found marijuana in the master bedroom closet. A further search led to GloRilla being charged with possession of a Schedule 1 drug, though authorities haven’t publicly disclosed which substance.
She turned herself in Tuesday and was released the same day on a $22,260 bond.
Her attorney, Drew Findling, issued a statement calling out the sheriff’s department for what he saw as misplaced priorities.
“Instead of investigating the violent home invasion and theft at Ms. Woods’ home, they instead sought a search warrant when they spotted what they believed was a small amount of marijuana,” Findling said.
He confirmed that family members were staying at the home and were “traumatized” by the armed break-in. As it turns out, the burglars thought the house was empty — it wasn’t.
What Comes Next?
Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman said in a statement:
“The homeowner is a victim of a serious crime, and we are committed to bringing the suspects to justice. At the same time, we must continue to uphold and enforce the law in all aspects of this case.”
While GloRilla now finds herself facing charges, her fans are rallying behind her — viewing this as another case of law enforcement criminalizing the victim instead of focusing on the real threat.
